Education Evidence for Action (EE4A) is a space for evidence producers and users to link evidence, policy, and practice. Since 2015, the EE4A coalition has had biennial conferences to share evidence., key policy issues, and priorities to strengthen the culture of evidence generation and utilization.
The Objectives of EE4A
EE4A was founded as a platform for sustained collaboration among policy makers, research institutions and the various users of evidence. EE4A has two objectives:
1.
Facilitating an evidence-ecosystem in education
2.
Linking education evidence to inform policy and action.
Membership
Education Evidence for Action (EE4A) is a dynamic network of civil society organizations, academics, and the Ministry of Education (MoE) dedicated to promoting evidence-based decision-making for improved learning outcomes.
Organization
EE4A comprises a diverse membership base drawn from academia, the Ministry of Education, and research/community-based organizations. We welcome organizations that are registered and actively working in the education sector in Kenya, including evidence producers and users, to join our network.
Leadership
Our leadership structure ensures representation and collaboration among key stakeholders. The co-chair positions are held by the Ministry of Education and a civil society organization/research organization. The secretariat, currently hosted by Zizi Afrique Foundation, facilitates the smooth operation of the network.
Membership
While EE4A began with a few organizations, it continues to expand and attract organizations working in the education sector. The minimum requirements for an organization to be admitted to the network and organization should be:
- Registered and working in the education sector in Kenya or government oriented
- An evidence producer.
- An evidence user.
Member organization must meet criterion ‘1’ and either or both of ‘2’ and ‘3’. New members will be admitted by writing through the co-chairs and their eligibility to be discussed with other members during EE4A meetings. The current form of EE4A has representation from evidence generators, policy, and academics. However, it is missing on two important entities and likely users of evidence: the private sector and implementers (teachers, parents). It is critical to deliberately explore ways of bringing into the network these two constituents to EE4A as well as other key stakeholders such as the Teacher Service Commission.
The Objectives of EE4A
The network has made significant progress towards its aspirations since its inception. The idea to date remains fresh and powerful, relevant, and expected to stand time, particularly on the use of evidence for decision making.Members including the MoE have been consistent and committed to the course despite the lack of identity that defines and holds the network together. Over time, more members have joined the network and continue to espouse its aspiration as a space where evidence producers and policymakers share and discuss the uptake of education evidence.
